Cricketer Shakib Al Hasan's house in Magura was set on fire by miscreants. The fire was set at around 8:45 pm on Wednesday (August 5). Sadar Police Station OC Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed the matter.
At that time, the miscreants exploded two petrol bombs. This broke the glass windows of the house. Police reached the spot at around 9:30 pm. However, no one was at the house.
It is worth noting that Shakib participated live with Sheikh Hasina in a press conference organized at the Foreign Press Club in India this evening (August 5).
There is a murder case against Shakib in connection with the death of a garment worker named Rubel in Dhaka's Adabore during the anti-discrimination student movement on August 5, 2024. He is unable to return to the country due to this case.
He is accused of defrauding ordinary investors by artificially increasing the price of shares in the stock market and illegally embezzling crores of taka. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case in this incident.
Apart from this, there is also a case of cheque forgery and fraud against Shakib. The details of the case reveal that Shakib's 'Agro Farm' had taken a loan from IFIC Bank for business needs. Later, when two cheques of Tk 41.5 million were given, they were dishonoured (rejected by the bank) due to insufficient funds.
