A school teacher named Mohammad Rashedul Islam Rashed has expressed fear for his life, alleging attacks, intimidation, counter-suits and misinformation on social media over a land dispute.
Rashed claims that the dispute began over land that his family has been occupying for a long time. He and his brother have been beaten up several times over this dispute. He even alleged that he was framed in a false case and threatened with death.
Rashed said that his mother is deceased. Sahanur Begum and his younger uncle Md. Jahangir received possession of a part of the village land from their elder brother Shafiqul Islam in 2000 verbally. Since then, he claims that they have been occupying 9066 dags of land in 2461 khatian.
After Rashed's mother died in February 2022, a dispute began on August 18, 2023, over the construction of a house and cutting of trees on the land, he said. Although efforts were made to resolve the matter in the presence of local public representatives, a new dispute arose over the transfer of the land.
According to Rashed, on January 24, 2026, around 12:15 am, Farooq and his son Sajeeb, some people including him, went to his occupied land and beat him up. As a result, his head exploded and he had to get 10 stitches. He also claimed that his younger brother Solaiman's finger was broken in the same incident.
After the incident, Rashed filed a case with the police station on January 26 after receiving treatment at the hospital. He claimed that the police arrested the accused Farooq after the case. Later, after some local people assured him of resolving the matter through arbitration, he got Farooq's bail from the court.
Later, taking advantage of the delay in the name of arbitration, Faruk bought the relevant land from his aunt on February 22, 2026 through document number 1137. After that, the dispute became more complicated.
He further alleged that he was pressured to withdraw the case and provide financial benefits. When he did not agree, a counter-case and threats of attack were made against him. Later, on April 30, he said that CR case No. 665/2026 was filed against him.
Then, on May 28, on Eid, Rashed alleged that Farouk's two sons Ismail and Sajeeb beat him up in front of some people and burst his eardrum. He claimed that a medical examination on May 30 found that his left eardrum was damaged. He filed a GD with the police station in this incident, which he said was number 1723.
Rashed further alleged that later, he was threatened to leave the house and his motorcycle was also hit at one stage. For his safety, he filed a CR case in court. Case No. 797/2026 was filed. A police investigation officer was assigned to investigate the case.
Referring to the insecurity, Rashed said that when the investigation officer went to the area on June 26, he fled to Bhola town in fear and has not been staying at his house regularly since then.
Meanwhile, Rashed claimed that he was accused of setting fire to a cow shed while he was in Bhola on the night of June 29. According to him, he was in Bhola at the time of the incident and informed the concerned police officers on the phone after learning about the matter. He claims that the police later went to the spot and investigated the matter.
Rashed alleged that a case was then filed against him in court on July 1 on charges of setting fire to a house and misinformation was spread about him on social media.
He said, "I have been teaching students for a long time from 2015 to 2025. I joined a high school as a math teacher through the 18th registration in 2025. I have no history of getting involved in personal disputes with anyone in the area. There is an attempt to humiliate me socially and damage my career over a land dispute."
Rashed claims that he has no direct land purchase relationship with Farooq's family. Although the land purchase issue with his aunt is separate, he wants an answer to the question of why he is repeatedly being attacked and threatened due to that dispute.
He further alleged that Farooq's eldest son Ismail threatened him with his school job. Rashed expressed concern about his safety and professional dignity in this incident.
Meanwhile, Rashed claimed that when Farooq's two sons secretly went to court on August 6 to seek anticipatory bail, the court canceled their bail and ordered their detention. However, the official statement of the court or police concerned in this regard could not be confirmed in this report.
Rashed has demanded an impartial investigation into the incident from the administration, law enforcement agencies, education-related organizations, media and social media responsible persons.
He claims that if the call detail record (CDR), call list and necessary technical information of the mobile number he used are verified, it may be possible to uncover the true truth of various incidents.
He said, “I respect the law of the country. I do not want any unfair advantage. That the real culprit should be identified through a fair investigation and action should be taken according to the law—this is my demand.”
However, the statements of the accused Faruk, his two sons, related relatives and local public representatives regarding the allegations raised by Rashed were not available at the time of this report. The victim teacher demanded an impartial investigation by verifying the truth of the allegations and accepting the statements of both sides.
