BNP senior joint secretary general and political advisor to the prime minister, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, has claimed that most of the election promises and programs of the BNP government have been implemented in six months. He said that in some places 100 percent, and in others 90 to 95 percent of the targets have been met. Detailed statistics on the government's six-month achievements will be published soon.
Rizvi said these things at an emergency press conference at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan in the capital on Friday afternoon. He said that almost all of the six-month targets have been met. Although in some places it may not be 100 percent, there are 95 percent, 90 percent. In some places it has been 100 percent. It took time to make the necessary structure and administrative preparations for the implementation of the programs. He also expressed the hope that the government's programs will be implemented more vigorously and quickly in the next six months.
Responding to a question about the resignation of the party secretary general after receiving the nomination for the post of president, Rizvi said, there is no legal obligation to resign from the party post or any other government post before taking the oath. However, the decision to resign from the post of party secretary general has been taken for moral reasons.
At the beginning of the press conference, Rizvi highlighted various aspects of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia's political life. He said, Begum Khaleda Zia never deviated from the pledge to establish independence, sovereignty and democracy. Because of this, she had to endure sorrow, pain, oppression and torture in her political life.
Highlighting the role of Begum Khaleda Zia in the anti-Ershad movement, Rizvi said, Begum Khaleda Zia was the embodiment and main inspiration of that movement of students and the public.
On the occasion of Begum Zia's birthday, a prayer program will be organized at BNP party offices across the country, including Dhaka, on Saturday. He said that prayers will be held at the Nayapaltan central office at 11 am and at the Gulshan office after Asr prayers.
