China has said that the unilateral economic sanctions imposed by the US to contain Iran are not contributing to the resolution of the war situation. Beijing has expressed its fear that this is causing renewed tension in the Middle East as well as damaging the global financial system.
At the same time, the country has reiterated its support for Iran. Liu Chang, press secretary of the Chinese Embassy in Washington, made this statement regarding the inclusion of the name of Chinese logistics company 'Kameng Trading' in the US sanctions list over the Tehran issue. The official said that Beijing is firmly opposed to illegal and unilateral sanctions that are not authorized by international law or the UN Security Council, and it has been made clear many times. Economic warfare or the policy of applying 'maximum pressure' does not provide any solution. Rather, they only increase tensions and create a situation where risks spread, which will disrupt the global economic and financial system and harm the legitimate rights and interests of other countries.
He added that the most urgent task now is to return to the dialogue and negotiation table as soon as possible to prevent the escalation of the situation. China will do everything necessary to firmly defend its rights and interests.
