A pregnant woman has died of dengue in Chittagong. 26-year-old Arpita Das died in the intensive care unit (ICU) of Chittagong Medical College on Friday (September 11).

The deceased Arpita was an assistant teacher at Sunrise Grammar School in the city's Patharghata area. She was expected to give birth in the second week of next month.

Chittagong Medical College Hospital Director Brigadier General Mohammad Taslim Uddin told the media that she was brought in on Thursday. She was kept in the ICU as her physical condition was bad. She died yesterday afternoon. She was suffering from dengue shock syndrome. She was pregnant. The unborn child also died after the mother died.

Arpita Das was diagnosed with dengue on September 6. The next day, she was admitted to a private hospital. After that, when her condition deteriorated, she was admitted to another private hospital and admitted to Chittagong Medical College on Thursday.

The Civil Surgeon's Office reported the death of an 8-year-old child due to dengue last Wednesday. The child's name is Abrar. Abrar, a resident of the city's Halishahar area, was undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital after contracting Expanded Dengue Syndrome.

In Chittagong district, 6 people died of dengue in the first 11 days of this month. So far this year, the number of deaths in the district due to dengue has increased to 11. However, the report of the Civil Surgeon's Office issued on Saturday afternoon stated that the number of deaths due to dengue was 10.

When asked, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Sajedur Rahman said that a pregnant woman named Arpita Das died yesterday while undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital. We will mention it in the list after receiving the death review report. It will be mentioned in tomorrow's report. The number of deaths due to dengue till date is 10.

Among the dengue deaths this year, 5 are women, 3 men and 2 children.

60 patients are admitted to the dengue ward of Chittagong Medical College on Saturday. The hospital is treating the highest number of dengue patients in the district. In the first 11 days of September, 760 new dengue patients were identified in the district. Earlier, 1,202 dengue patients were identified in August.
