The government has increased the prices of four major types of fuel oil in the country by Tk 20 per liter. Under the new rates, the price per liter has been set at Tk 135 for diesel, Tk 155 for kerosene, Tk 165 for octane, and Tk 160 for petrol.
This information was disclosed in a notification issued on Sunday (September 20), signed by Md. Enamul Haque, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division.
Previously, fuel oil prices had remained unchanged in September. At that time, diesel was selling at Tk 115 per liter, kerosene at Tk 135, octane at Tk 145, and petrol at Tk 140.
The last major price adjustment took place in April. At that time, the price of diesel was raised by Tk 15 per liter, while the prices of octane, petrol, and kerosene were increased by Tk 20, Tk 19, and Tk 18, respectively.
Since 2024, retail fuel oil prices in the country have been reviewed under an automated pricing mechanism. These price adjustments take into account factors such as international market oil prices, import costs, taxes and duties, exchange rates, and other associated expenses.
