Professor Dr. S. M. Hemayet Jahan, Vice-Chancellor of Patuakhali University of Science and Technology and Chief Advisor of PUBRI Journalists Association, met with the leaders of the (PUBRI) Journalists Association in a view-sharing meeting.

Proctor Professor Abul Bashar Khan, Student Affairs Advisor Professor Dr. A. B. M. Saiful Islam, Senior Deputy Director of the Public Relations and Publications Department, Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Sabuj, spoke as special guests at the meeting held at 5 pm on Monday, July 13 in the conference room of the Vice-Chancellor of the university. Among others, the speakers were Marsiful Alam Rimon, President of the Journalists' Association of Pabiprob, Shafiqul Islam Akash, Office Secretary, Members Joybhangi, Mostaq Ahmed Pritam, Meherunnesa Lovely, Moin Uddin, Salauddin Ahmed, etc.

In his speech as the chief guest, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. S. M. Hemayet Jahan said, "Journalists are the mirror of society. Journalists accurately portray what happens in society and the state. The role of the media in running the state and consolidating democracy is immense. Along with the law, justice and executive branches, journalism or the media can be called the fourth pillar of democracy." He said, the main strength of news is truth. The job of an ideal journalist is to present the truth impartially without any kind of bias. Journalists perform their professional duties at the risk of their lives in the face of adverse environments, disasters, wars or any crisis. At the end of the meeting, the leaders of the Journalists' Association presented floral greetings to the chief guest and the newly appointed VC Professor Dr. S.M. Hemayet Jahan, the Chief Advisor of the Journalists' Association.
