A five-member delegation led by party convener Nahid Islam has filed a written complaint at the Kamaichhara police station in Bahubal upazila over the attack on the convoy of central leaders during the National Citizens Party (NCP) march program in Habiganj.
The complaint was filed around 8 pm on Wednesday (July 29). The officer-in-charge of Bahubal police station confirmed the matter to the media.
Apart from Nahid Islam, the delegation included NCP Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari, South Region Chief Organizer Hasnat Abdullah, Dr. Mahmuda Mitu and Sarwar Alam.
Earlier, Nahid Islam left for Habiganj with a convoy under Section 144 from Moulvibazar Circuit House around 3 pm on Wednesday.
At around 4:30 pm, when the police reached the 'Cha-Kanya' sculpture area on the Shayestaganj-Srimangal road, they blocked the NCP convoy with a barricade. At that time, the police and the party's central leaders Hasnat Abdullah, Nasiruddin Patwari, Sarwar Alam and other leaders and activists had an argument.
At one stage, there was a scuffle between the police and NCP leaders and activists. Later, the leaders and activists crossed the police barricade and moved forward with the convoy.
After a while, the convoy faced police obstruction again in the Rashidpur Gas Field area of Bahubal Upazila. At that time, the leaders and activists including Nahid Islam got out of the car and took a position on the road.
Later, after a long discussion, the police allowed the NCP leaders to file a written complaint at the Kamaichhara police outpost. After that, the delegation went there and submitted a written complaint.
