A sub-office of the International Human Rights Journalists Organization has been inaugurated in Taltali Upazila, Barguna, under the initiative of the organization’s local branch. The new office was opened with a grand ceremony at the Kochupatra Bazar in the Upazila on Friday (October 23, 2026) at 4:00 PM.

Guests present at the inauguration ceremony included Md. Faruk Khan, Chairman of Sharikhali Union Parishad; Md. Sohel, Panel Chairman; Md. Ruhul Amin, Panel Chairman of No. 1 Pachakoralia Union; and Md. Bachchu Mia, Panel Chairman of Koraibaria Union.

The event was attended by Jamal Mallik, President of the Taltali Upazila branch of the International Human Rights Journalists Organization, General Secretary Md. Rezaul Islam Rony, and various other members and officials of the organization.

Other leaders present included Senior Vice-President Md. Riaz Talukdar; Vice-Presidents Md. Harun-or-Rashid and Md. Israt Hossain Himel; Senior Joint General Secretary Md. Rakibul Islam; Joint General Secretary Md. Mahmudul Hasan; Organizing Secretary Md. Suman Mia; Assistant Organizing Secretary Md. Rakibul Islam; Finance Secretary Md. Redwan; Office Secretary Md. Bashir Uddin; Legal Affairs Secretary Md. Belal; Publicity Secretary Md. Zahidul; Information and Technology Secretary Md. Zubayer; Social Welfare Secretary Md. Mohin; Education Secretary Md. Abu Saleh; and Sports Secretary Md. Shamim.

Additionally, executive and general members—including Md. Rabiul, Md. Sifat, Md. Mohibullah, and Md. Rezaul Karim—were present. Members of various youth clubs from Sharikhali Union and No. 1 Pachakoralia Union, as well as local business owners from Kochupatra Bazar, also participated in the event. At the event, speakers emphasized the necessity of working collectively to uphold human rights, foster social development, and promote objective journalism. They pledged to protect the rights of ordinary citizens, highlight local issues, and stand by those in need.

The speakers expressed hope that, through the operations of the new sub-office, the organization would be able to play a more active role in safeguarding human rights, raising social awareness, and addressing matters of public interest in Taltali Upazila.

The event concluded with a special prayer (*dua* and *munajat*) for the well-being of the country and the nation.
