A murder case has been filed against unknown individuals in connection with the death of former Air Force officer K. M. Tahsif Sauri (28).

The case was filed on Friday night at the Uttarkhan Police Station in the capital by Tahsif’s father, K. M. Enayetul Karim.

In connection with the incident, the Naval Police has taken Ahmed Shahriar Reza Deep—a close, younger friend of Tahsif—into custody for questioning.

This was confirmed on Saturday morning (October 31) by Md. Rezaul Karim, Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Uttara division.

Rezaul Karim stated that the case has been filed on the grounds that the victim was murdered and his body dumped in a river to conceal the crime. The case names unknown individuals as the accused. The Naval Police took Deep into custody from the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) for the purpose of interrogation.

The murder case was filed last night, two days after Tahsif’s body was recovered from the Turag River. Former Air Force Flight Lieutenant Tahsif had left his home in Uttara last Tuesday evening. At 1:35 AM, he sent a text message to his mother stating that he was on his way home; however, he never arrived.

The following day, Wednesday afternoon, the Naval Police recovered his body from the Turag River. Although initially unidentified, the police were later able to confirm his identity through an iPhone found with him.

The PBI reported that CCTV footage from last Tuesday evening—captured before Tahsif went missing—shows him with another individual near their building. Family members identified this person as Deep, a friend of Tahsif. After shaking hands, the two departed on separate motorcycles.

Consequently, the PBI initially took Deep into custody on Thursday night for questioning. Based on information provided by him, a motorcycle was recovered from the Mazar Basti area in Tongi; the police believe this to be Tahsif’s motorcycle.
