German Tourist Recovers Stolen Laptop

German tourist Cyril Lander has recovered the laptop that was stolen from Natore Station. On Tuesday morning (October 13), the Inspector General of Bangladesh Police (IGP), Md. Ali Hossain Fakir, formally handed over the laptop to Cyril at Police Headquarters. Cyril Lander expressed his gratitude to the Bangladesh Police and shared his positive experiences while traveling in the country.

Police Headquarters announced this information in a press release.

On the afternoon of October 7, German tourist Cyril Lander’s laptop and camera were stolen at Natore Railway Station. He had gone to an ATM booth to withdraw cash for a train ticket. While doing so, he left his bag—containing the laptop and camera—with a man who had identified himself as a railway official. Upon returning with the cash, he found neither the man nor the bag.

Cyril later learned that the person with whom he had left the bag was not a railway employee. He filed a General Diary (GD) regarding the incident at Natore Sadar Police Station.

Subsequently, multiple teams—comprising personnel from Natore Sadar Police Station, Natore District Police, Railway Police, and Tourist Police—conducted a joint operation to recover the lost items. On October 11, at approximately 9:30 PM, they successfully recovered the German tourist’s laptop (a MacBook) from ‘Noor Clothing Store’ in the Kapuriapatti area under Natore Sadar Police Station.

To recognize their contributions—specifically the swift resolution of the foreign tourist’s complaint, the recovery of the laptop, and the enhancement of the Bangladesh Police’s professionalism and image—the IGP awarded cash prizes today to Md. Mansur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Natore Sadar Police Station, and Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Shahadat Hossain. Other senior officials from Police Headquarters were present on the occasion. The IGP commended the concerned police personnel for their competence, sincerity, sense of responsibility, and team success. He also directed all units of the Bangladesh Police to provide prompt and professional services, ensure the safety of and build trust among both domestic and foreign citizens, maintain a tourism-friendly environment, and set exemplary standards in people-oriented policing.

Earlier, on October 10, Mukti Mahmud—an official at a private company—handed over a MacBook to Krill Lander after seeing a video of the young tourist weeping over the loss of his laptop and camera. While presenting the MacBook to the 18-year-old Krill at the capital’s Hazaribagh Police Station in the presence of police officers, Mahmud expressed his wish that the young tourist could take back at least some pleasant memories before leaving Bangladesh.
