Iron bridge connecting wards 1 and 3 of Sharikkhali union in Taltoli is risky

The iron bridge built over the canal between wards 1 and 3 of Sharikkhali union in Taltoli upazila 4 of Barguna district has been in a risky condition for a long time. Due to the lack of initiatives to repair or build a new bridge, locals have to cross it every day, risking their lives.

It can be seen on the ground that the iron structure and various parts of the pillars of the bridge have become weak. Locals have made temporary arrangements to cross the bridge with wooden planks to facilitate movement. However, the risk has increased further as the wooden planks have broken at various places.

Locals claim that ordinary people, including school and college-going students, patients, pregnant women, etc., cross this bridge every day. In addition, auto-rickshaws, easy bikes and motorcycles are also crossing the bridge with passengers.

Locals have alleged that the bridge has been in a risky condition for a long time, but the concerned authorities have not taken any effective steps. This has made it difficult for locals to transport agricultural products and take emergency patients to hospitals.

Locals have demanded the immediate construction of a durable and paved bridge. They have sought urgent intervention from the concerned authorities in this regard.
