
As part of the 250 million tree plantation program announced by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman across the country in the next five years, a tree plantation program has been inaugurated by distributing tree saplings in Purbadhala Upazila of Netrokona.
The program was inaugurated on Saturday (June 13/26) afternoon at the Upazila Parishad premises by the Upazila Administration and the Netrokona District Forest Extension Center, Netrokona Forest Department.
Purbadhola Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Shafiqul Islam inaugurated the program. During this time, a total of 500 saplings of various species of fruit, forest and medicinal trees were distributed among students, journalists, political figures and people from different classes and professions.
Purbadhola Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdullah Al Mamun was present as the special guest at the program. In addition, local administration officials, political leaders, journalists and teachers and students of various educational institutions were present.
In his inaugural speech, UNO Shafiqul Islam said that as per the plan announced by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, 250 million trees will be planted across the country in the next five years. All concerned have been instructed to work sincerely and responsibly for the successful implementation of this program. As part of this, 500 tree saplings have been distributed in the first phase in Purbadhala. He said that another 500 saplings will be distributed in phases.
