Mother-in-law Firoza Begum (34) and his wife Farzana Akter Ratri (21) were stabbed to death by their daughter’s son-in-law Shipon on Al-Amin Road in Kalabagan, Dhaka.

A police officer who did not want to be named said that Farzana and Shipon got married a few years ago out of love.

They have a son who is almost a year old. Now the child has lost his mother and grandmother.

Although the deceased Firoza Begum had a son, Farzana was her only daughter. The child does not have any aunts.

On Sunday (August 2) night, Kalabagan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Fazle Ashiq told Banglanews that son-in-law Shipon has been arrested in a murder case filed by the family in connection with the murder of his wife and mother-in-law. From what I have heard, the husband and wife had been quarreling over various issues since their marriage.

There had been a quarrel between them even before the incident. At one stage, when the mother-in-law sided with her daughter, Shipon stabbed both of them to death. It is said that Shipon had entered the in-laws’ house with a knife. The matter is under investigation. If this is proven, it will also be investigated whether he had gone there with the intention of killing as planned.

Kalabagan Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Liza Akhter prepared the post-mortem report of the two bodies. Later, after the autopsy at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue, the family members took the bodies. The mother and daughter are scheduled to be buried in their village home in Shariatpur.

SI Liza Akhter said that approximately 10 to 12 stab marks were seen on the faces, necks and various parts of the bodies of the two bodies.

Meanwhile, another police officer, who did not want to be named, said that pickup driver Shipon lived in the Mohammadpur area with his wife. Ever since the birth of their child, their quarrels over various family issues increased. No one wanted to give in to anyone. It has been learned from family members that when there was a quarrel, both of them would stick to their positions. The wife thought she was right, while the husband also thought she was right, and the wife did not respect him properly. They often had disputes over these issues.

He also said that in many cases of husband-wife murder, the issue of extramarital affairs or suspicions comes to the fore. But in the case of Shipon and Farzana, no such information has been found so far. There was love and trust between them. There was no suspicion between the two about extramarital affairs or relationships with anyone else. Farzana fell in love and married at a young age, but her husband was the right age.

It is learned that pickup driver Shipon regularly quarreled over various family issues, including his low income.

It was initially learned from the arrested Shipon that on the morning of the incident, he went to his in-laws’ house next to the mosque on Al-Amin Road. There, a fight broke out between the husband and wife. At one point, the mother-in-law took the daughter’s side and scolded the son-in-law, saying, “You always fight with my daughter. My daughter will no longer be with you, I will divorce you.”

After hearing this, Shipon became even more agitated and stabbed his wife Farzana indiscriminately. At that time, when he tried to save his daughter, he also stabbed his mother-in-law Firoza Begum indiscriminately. Farzana died on the spot. Her mother was taken to Dhaka Medical Hospital, where she also died.

The double murder took place at Farzana’s parents’ house on the fifth floor of house number 52/2 on Kathalbagan Al-Amin Mosque Road under Kalabagan police station at around 8 am on Sunday.

The father-in-law of the killer Shipon, a fruit seller, Faruk Hossain, told reporters at Dhaka Medical Hospital that their home is in Gosairhat Upazila of Shariatpur. The Friday before last, his wife and daughter went to their village home. Last Friday, his nephew’s wedding ceremony was held. Shipon went there the day before the wedding. On the morning of the wedding, when the couple Farzana and Shipon had a fight, Shipon returned to Dhaka without eating or drinking.

He also said that on Saturday night, he, his wife and daughter returned to their house in Kathalbagan from their village home.

On Sunday morning, while he was out, Shipon came home and got into another fight. At one point, Shipon slashed his wife and mother-in-law with a sharp knife and fled with Shipon-Farzana’s one-year-old son, Raihan. Later, Shipon himself went to the police and was caught.

Meanwhile, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said that during one stage of the argument, Shipon brought a sharp vegetable knife from the kitchen and first stabbed his wife Farzana. At that time, when his mother-in-law Firoza Begum came forward to save her daughter, she was also stabbed to death.
