Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has commented that the law and order situation in the country has improved, but public expectations have not been met.

He said, ‘People will speak about the improvement in law and order in the 180 days of the election. However, it will take more time to meet public expectations.’

He said this at the Secretariat after the meeting of the Judicial Service Pay Commission’s report review committee on Monday (August 17).

On the Al-Qaeda issue, the Home Minister said, ‘The UN report is based on speculation. Therefore, we are not taking any report based on speculation into account.’

He said, ‘The government is planning to build a land-based LNG terminal at the Matarbari deep sea port. Efforts are being made to keep reserves for a certain period to solve the energy problem, considering future energy security.’

He also said, ‘In the next few years, the country’s domestic gas demand can be met from domestic sources.’
