
Police have arrested 9 leaders and activists with the help of local people during a flash procession of Chhatra League in Savar, Dhaka.
The incident took place in the Kalmar Dhal area of Savar Sadar Union. It is known that some children/adolescents are among the detainees.
According to local sources, 20 to 25 leaders and activists of Chhatra League suddenly gathered in the Kalmar Dhal area of Savar Union and took out a flash procession.
At that time, the angry local people chased them after seeing the procession. When the marchers tried to flee in all directions after being chased, the locals caught 9 people red-handed and later informed the police.
On receiving the news, a police delegation led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Ismail and SI Farhad of Savar Model Police Station quickly reached the spot and took the detainees into police custody and took them to the police station.
Initial investigations revealed that the detainees were leaders and activists of the Ashulia Union Chhatra League and local supporters. Locals alleged that some of the detainees were also involved in the activities of a juvenile gang in the area.
