Malaysia has limited multiple-entry visa facilities for citizens of 31 countries, including Bangladesh, on visit visas. As a result of the new policy, Bangladeshi tourists will generally have to take a single-entry visa instead of a one-year multiple-entry visa.

A notice published on the website of the Malaysian Immigration Department announced this change. It said that from September 1, multiple-entry visas are not being issued to citizens of all countries in a large number as before.

The new rules provide for multiple-entry visas for certain travel purposes. These include business travel, medical treatment, ‘fly and cruise’ and wedding tourism.

On the other hand, citizens of countries, including Bangladesh, whose multiple-entry visa facilities have been withdrawn for general visits or social travel, will have to apply for a single-entry visa. The Malaysian immigration authority has also published a list of countries in this regard.

However, this new decision will not affect Bangladeshi or other foreign workers working in Malaysia. Because, the notification of the Immigration Department mainly applies to visit visas or social travel. Work permits or employment-related visas of workers are not covered by this change.

As this new visa policy is effective for Bangladeshi citizens when traveling to Malaysia, tourists will have to face changes in visa management compared to before.
