The Ministry of Education has rescheduled the holiday for the holy occasion of Fateha-e-Yazdaham for schools and colleges to September 23. Due to this change in the official holiday date, the commencement date for classes for students admitted to Class XI for the 2026-27 academic year has also been postponed by one day to September 24.

On Sunday (September 20), the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education issued a notification revising the holiday date. The notification states that, following a decision by the Islamic Foundation—and given that the holiday depends on the sighting of the moon—the previously scheduled date of September 24 has been changed to September 23. This new decision finalizes a partial revision of the annual holiday list originally issued on May 20.

Meanwhile, this change in the holiday schedule has directly impacted the start date for Class XI classes. A notice from the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee stated that classes were originally scheduled to begin on September 23. However, due to Fateha-e-Yazdaham, educational institutions across the country will observe a general holiday on that day. Consequently, the start date for classes has been rescheduled to September 24. Board authorities have confirmed that all relevant students and guardians have already been informed of this change.
