The funeral prayers of Awami League leader and former mayor of Gazipur Sreepur Municipality Anisur Rahman and his sister have been held. The funeral was held at 11 am on Monday (June 8) at the English Educare ground next to his residence in Madkhala area.

A crowd of people from various political, social and professional organizations, regardless of party affiliation, attended the funeral.

Gazipur-3 constituency MP Professor Dr. Rafiqul Islam Bachchu was present at the time. In addition, leaders and activists of various political parties including BNP, local public representatives and people from all walks of life were present.

After the funeral, a special prayer was offered seeking forgiveness for the souls of the deceased.

The devotees present expressed their deep condolences to the bereaved family members.

It is worth mentioning that Anisur Rahman (65) died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Uttara, Dhaka on Sunday afternoon. He had been suffering from various physical complications including kidney and heart disease for a long time. He used to go to the hospital regularly for dialysis.

He also went to the hospital for dialysis yesterday. During this time, his physical condition deteriorated. He died around 4 pm. Later, his younger sister Rashida Khatun (62) suddenly fell ill after hearing the news of his death. She also died in the afternoon on the way to the hospital.
