A helper was killed and two others, including the driver, were injured in a road accident in Bhola’s Borhanuddin Upazila when a pickup lost control and overturned on the side of the road.

The accident occurred on Monday (July 6) afternoon in the Battala area of the Kunjerhat-Moniram regional highway in Borhanuddin Upazila.

According to police and local sources, the driver lost control when the speeding pickup reached the Battala area. As a result, the vehicle skidded off the side of the road and was severely damaged. The pickup’s helper, Md. Sajeeb (25), was killed on the spot in the accident. The driver was seriously injured and another person was injured.

Locals rescued them and sent them to the hospital. The identities of the injured were not immediately known.

Upon receiving the news of the accident, Borhanuddin Police Station reached the spot and brought the situation under control and recovered the accident-hit pickup. Later, the body of the deceased was recovered and legal proceedings were initiated.

In this regard, Borhanuddin Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Moniruzzaman told Daily Nithirat Patrika reporter Riaz Hossain Shanto, “Upon receiving the news, the police went to the spot and confirmed that the pickup had lost control of the accident. The helper was killed in the accident and two others, including the driver, were injured. Necessary legal action will be taken in this incident.

After the accident, a shadow of mourning descended on the area. Locals demanded control of reckless speed of vehicles on the highway and strengthening road safety.
