
RAB-6 has arrested Rajib Sheikh (45), one of the prime accused in the murder case of construction worker Alinur Fakir (25) in Lohagara Upazila of Narail, from Satkhira. The force has arrested two accused in the case.
A joint team of RAB-6, CPC-3 Jessore Camp and RAB-6 CPC-1 Satkhira Camp conducted a drive at around 8 pm on Tuesday (July 21) and arrested Rajib.
Major Fazle Rabbi Prince, Company Commander of RAB-6 Jessore, confirmed the matter.
The arrested Rajib Sheikh is the son of Jahangir Sheikh of Kumardanga village in Itna Union of Lohagara Upazila.
RAB said that on Tuesday night, after receiving a secret tip-off, a joint operation by members of RAB-6, CPC-3 Jessore and RAB-6, CPC-1 Satkhira camps arrested Rajib Sheikh, the main accused in the Alinur murder case of Kumardanga village of Itna union in Lohagara upazila, from Gangnia Bridge area of Satkhira Sadar Police Station. Later, the accused was handed over to Lohagara Police Station.
Earlier, on Monday (July 20) night, RAB-6 conducted a raid in Hasamdia village of Boalmari in Faridpur district and arrested Rahman Sheikh, the second accused in the case.
In this regard, Lohagara Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Ajit Kumar Roy said that the arrested accused Rajib has been brought from Satkhira to Lohagara Police Station. Further legal action against him is under process.
Last Sunday (July 19) at around 10 pm, a rival Rajib Sheikh and his associates killed construction worker Alinur Fakir with a knife near the primary school in Kumardanga village of Lohagara, claiming to pay the money owed to them, and fled.
Later, on Monday night, Alinur Fakir’s brother Aminur Fakir filed a murder case with Lohagara Police Station, naming Rajib Sheikh as the main accused and 14 others, including 5-7 unknown people.
