India’s Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has finally resigned in the face of student protests in India. He submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (July 25). NDTV reported.

Meanwhile, the third round of talks between the protesting Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and the central government were underway at Jantar Mantar in the capital Delhi. Dharmendra Pradhan resigned in the meantime.

The CJP, which led the protest, remained adamant on Friday (July 24) demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. They have given the government a 24-hour deadline.

The protesters had made Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation their main and ‘non-negotiable’ demand from the beginning.

Earlier, the central government had agreed in principle not to take legal action against the protesters and to provide compensation to the families of the students who committed suicide, but did not agree to the resignation of the education minister.

For more than a month, protests have been going on in India demanding the resignation of the education minister and protesting the question leak in medical exams.
