
A BNP leader named Mizan Mia (45) died after being hit with a stick by his cousin over a land dispute in Monohardi, Narsingdi.
The incident took place on Saturday (August 1) afternoon in Barachapa Purbapara village of Ward No. 4 of Barachapa Union of the upazila.
Mizan is the son of Safur Uddin of the village. He was the vice-president of Ward No. 4 Volunteer Party.
And the accused Shahidullah (65) is the son of Sundar Ali of the same area. He is the vice-president of Ward No. 4 Awami League. The other accused is his son Jibon Mia.
The relatives of the deceased said that Mizan and his uncle Shahidullah had been in a dispute over a road. Despite several mediations, Shahidullah did not accept it. On Saturday afternoon, when Mizan went to cut a tree on the road, an argument broke out between them. At that time, Shahidullah’s son Jiban hit Mizan on the head with a stick. Mizan fell to the ground and was rescued and taken to the Upazila Health Center, where the doctor declared him dead.
Resident Medical Officer Dr. Khandaker Anisur Rahman said that Mizan was brought to the hospital dead in the afternoon. The cause of death can be said after the autopsy report comes.
Monohardi Police Station OC Jahangir Badsha said that the murder occurred due to a land dispute between uncle and nephew. The body has been sent to the morgue of Narsingdi Sadar Hospital after autopsy. Legal action is being taken in this incident.
