Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Speaker Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, who is serving as the acting president, and Acting Speaker Kaiser Kamal have cast their votes in the country’s 23rd presidential election.

In addition, BNP candidate Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also cast his votes.

Voting for the presidential election began at 2 pm on Thursday (August 20) in the session room of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

Opposition MPs are also voting. 349 MPs are scheduled to vote in the election.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin is conducting the election. He is being assisted by assistant officials. Voting is being held in the parliament chamber.

Once the voting ends at 5 pm, the votes will be counted immediately in the parliament chamber. The CEC will announce the results after counting how many votes were cast out of the total 349 ballots, how many were valid, and who among the two candidates received how many votes. Later, a gazette regarding this will be published by the Election Commission Secretariat.
