Prime Minister meets newly elected President

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paid a courtesy call on Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir late at night after he was elected as the country’s new President.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by Jatiya Sangsad Whip Mian Nuruddin Ahmed Apu and Women, Children and Social Welfare Minister Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain in the meeting held at a place in the capital on Thursday (August 20). The meeting was later officially confirmed through representatives.

During the courtesy call, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman greeted the newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir with flowers. During this time, the two top political figures talked for a while. Later, other senior leaders of the party also congratulated and wished the newly elected Head of State.

This special courtesy call was organized immediately after the new Head of State was elected in the elections held in the third Parliament. The meeting took place within hours of the election, and as photos and news of it spread, it caused quite a stir in the political arena.
