Cricketer Nasir Hossain and his wife Tamima Sultana Tammi have been acquitted in a case filed against them on charges of adultery and cheating.

The court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam of Dhaka announced the verdict on Wednesday (June 10). Both of them were present in the court when the verdict was announced. The verdict stated that the court acquitted the accused as the charges brought against them under separate sections of the Penal Code were not proven beyond doubt.

According to court officials, a total of 10 witnesses testified during the trial.

Tamima’s ex-husband Md. Rakib Hasan filed a case against Nasir and Tamima in court on February 24, 2021. The case alleged that Tamima married Nasir without properly divorcing the plaintiff (Rakib).

On September 30 of the same year, Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Inspector and Investigation Officer of the case Sheikh Md. Mizanur Rahman filed an investigation report with the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court accusing Nasir, Tamima, and Tamima’s mother Sumi Akhter.

On February 9, 2022, the court framed charges against Nasir and Tamima in the case. However, the court discharged Sumi Akhter from the case as it found no basis for framing charges against her.
