The current administration has taken a groundbreaking step in the history of Patuakhali University of Science and Technology. Immediately after joining, the newly appointed Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. S. M. Hemayet Jahan is being praised for making bus fare free for the convenience of regular transportation of students.

On Tuesday (July 14), an office order signed by PSU Transport Officer Md. Abdur Rahim announced the waiver of bus fare for students’ transportation subject to certain conditions.

Earlier, on June 10, the newly appointed Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. S. M. Hemayet Jahan announced the waiver of bus fare for students at a reception at the university’s TSC Conference Hall. A month after that announcement, he implemented it through an office order today (July 14). The announcement of bus fare waiver is causing enthusiasm among the students. The students said that they never dreamed that the Vice-Chancellor’s announcement would be effective so soon. They expressed their gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor.

President of the Paviprabi branch Chhatra Dal Md. Jahidul Islam Ratul said, the decision to waive bus fare for the convenience of students’ travel is very student-friendly. We, the general students, express our gratitude to the Honorable VC for this decision. He has taken several student-friendly steps soon after joining, which the general students are very happy with.

In this regard, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. SM Hemayet Jahan said, most of the students of our university are children of lower middle-class families. Many times they do not have the necessary fare for their travel. Therefore, the bus fare has been waived for the convenience of their regular travel. This will reduce students’ expenses, make travel easier, and help them benefit from attending classes regularly.
