A prayer mahfil and memorial service were held in Purbadhala, Netrokona, on the third death anniversary of the late Fakir Harun Al Helal, a former senior leader of BNP and a legend of Shyamganj’s student politics.

The memorial meeting and prayer meeting were organized at the party office adjacent to the helipad field of the upazila headquarters on Friday (17 July 2026) at 3:00 pm.

Before the meeting, the party leaders and activists and family members paid a visit to the grave of the deceased at 10:00 am and offered wreaths on behalf of the party.

The meeting was presided over by Purbadhola Upazila BNP convener, former three-time general secretary of the district BNP and former vice president (VP) of Netrokona district BNP, former VP of Netrokona Government College, Alhaj Abu Taher Talukder. The program was moderated by the joint convener of the upazila BNP, Md. Habibur Rahman Fakir.

The meeting was addressed by former vice president of Netrokona district BNP, Abdur Rahim Talukder, former president of Purbadhola Upazila BNP, Babul Alam Talukder, joint convener of Upazila BNP, Habibur Rahman Fakir, joint convener of the upazila BNP, Sayed Al Mamun Shaheed Fakir, Selim Uddin, Anwarul Islam Anar, former organizing secretary Ishtiaq Ahmed Babu, Mymensingh Medical College Hospital associate professor and department head, nephrology medicine and kidney disease specialist Dr. Mohammad Asaduzzaman (Ratan), Upazila BNP member Ashraf Uddin Talukder, Purbadhola Upazila Jubo Dal acting convener MA Mansur Khokon Akand, Upazila Chhatra Dal convener Salman Rahman Pallab and other leaders.

The speakers recalled the political life, organizational skills and sacrifice of the late Fakir Harun Al Helal. They said that he was a legendary figure in student politics of Shyamganj. During his long political life, he played an important role in organizing the party and organization. His ideals and dedication will inspire the leaders and activists of the next generation.

Late Fakir Harun Al Helal Netrokona District Former Agricultural Affairs Secretary and Honorary Member of BNP, former Joint Convener and Organizing Secretary of Netrokona District Krishak Dal, former Convener of Purbadhala Upazila Krishak Dal and former Senior Joint General Secretary of Purbadhala Upazila BNP.

After the ceremony, special prayers and supplications were conducted seeking the forgiveness of the deceased’s soul. The prayers and supplications were conducted by Maulana Mujibur Rahman Mondal, General Secretary of Upazila Ulama Dal.

A large number of leaders and activists of Upazila BNP and its affiliated organizations were present at the time.
